Ramallah: Human Rights and Democracy Media Center- SHAMS, released its monthly documentary report about the Israeli violations against the Palestinian establishments including demolishing or notifying to be demolished in the near future. The targeted Palestinian establishments varied and included residential, tourism, agricultural, commercial, educational, or industrial facilities. The focus in the report was on the residential units that Israel, the occupation power, targets regularly as a kind of punishment against Palestinians and restriction of their right to benefit from their land. SHAMS Center usually releases periodical documentary reports on monthly, semi- annually, and annually basis about the violations committed by the occupation against Palestinians.

The report is based on field documentation methodology through a group of researchers and field officers who document all forms of violations against the Palestinian establishments. The current report covers the violations committed during July 2022 in the various governorates of the West Bank. The collected data is analyzed and processed to be published in the form of tables based on quantitative and qualitative indicators. During July, the Israeli authorities targeted 206 Palestinian establishments through demolishing and notifying of demolishing in the near future.

Demolishing represented the major violation during July, where 52 Palestinian establishments were targeted including an establishment owned by a woman. In Kufur ed- Deek Village- Salfeet, the Israeli authorities demolished three agricultural rooms including a room owned by Najiya Mahmoud Ahmad (woman)

Regarding notifications, the Israeli authorities notified the owners of 154 establishments with orders to stop construction or demolishing, where the targeted establishments included residential units, agricultural facilities, livestock sheds, barracks, greenhouse, and an archeological site.

The first indicator within the report is related to the type of the targeted establishments where during the month, the demolished establishments included: residential units (14), residential tents (1), agricultural rooms (4), water wells/ pipes/ networks/ containers (3), commercial establishments (13), livestock barracks/ sheds (2), walls (1), car wash garage (1), agricultural pergolas (10), agricultural barracks (1), coffee shop (1), and stone terraces (1)

As for the notified establishments, they included: residential houses (103), residential tents (10), residential barracks (4), agricultural rooms (9), livestock barracks/ sheds (23), walls (2), greenhouses (1), natural reserve (1), and archeological site (1).

The second indicator is related to the geographical distribution of the targeted establishments where the majority was in Hebron (29) while there were 7 in Jerusalem that ranked the second.

Considering notifications, whether with demolishing, confiscation, or stop construction orders where analyzing the geographical distribution of these orders, highlights the future targeting of the Palestinian establishments where Israel violates Palestinians right to utilize their establishments and facilities. Jerusalem was the most targeted with notifications (88 orders) while Toubas witnessed 36 orders.

The third indicator is related to the targeted population who are the legal owners of the targeted establishments. The number of Palestinians affected by the Israeli violations during July, mounted to 78 persons including 14 kids and 4 women

Regarding the justifications proposed by the Israeli authorities for the purpose of legalizing the violations, 40 establishments out of 52 demolished establishments, were under the justification of unlicensed building in (c) areas. 2 demolished establishments were under the justification that they are close to a military checkpoint where Israel tends to evict Palestinians from the land close to the checkpoints in order to confiscate these lands. 8 establishments were demolished in order to expand the illegal Israeli settlements.

Regarding notifications, 148 notified establishments out of a total of 154, were under the justification of unlicensed building in areas classified as (c) while two establishment was notified of demolishing within the policy of collective punishments against Palestinians involved in resisting the occupation. 4 other establishments were notified under the justification of being built on archeological sites.

During July, the Israeli Authorities demolished two houses in Salfeet owned by the families of two prisoners who were involved in resisting the occupation while notified two families in Jenin with demolishing orders of their houses under the same justification
