Ramallah: Human Rights and Democracy Media Center “SHAMS” expresses its delight and honor for electing Dr. Shawan Jabareen, Director of Al-Haq Organization as the Secretary General of the International Federation for Human Rights. Within it 39th Congress, hold in Johannesburg, between August 23 to 27 2016. Four hundreds participants representing 193 member human rights organizations, in 122 states attended the congress in addition to other partners, activists and human rights defenders.
“SHAMS” center assures that electing Dr. Jabareen for this high –ranking position symbolizes a victory for Arabic and Palestinian human rights movement. It also assures that capacities of Palestinian human rights defenders are great if compared to counterparts regionally or internationally.
“SHAMS” center emphasizes its trust in the capacities and potentials of Dr. Shawan Jabareen who represents such professional person, and who have had considerable expertise in human rights movement for more than twenty-five years. Dr. Jabareen has been involved in addressing the needs and grievances, and has been a hard defender for peoples’ rights and dignity. Furthermore, he has protected victims with violated rights and personally, he faced the Israeli aggressions and measures.
Today “SHAMS” center extends the greetings and wishes for Dr. Shawan and his colleagues in Al-Haq organizations, as well as other Arabic and Palestinian human rights organizations for such success of great implications. Despite the fact, that International Federation for Human Rights and its new Secretary General challenge serious impediments by states breaking International Law like the state of the Israeli occupation. However, we are certain in the public figures like Dr. Jabareen and we believe in his expertise and strength. Definitely assuming such position will enhance defending human rights not only in Palestine, but also in the whole world.
