Human Rights and Democracy Media Center- SHAMS, strongly condemns the Israeli army’s crime of murdering the 16-year-old child, Milad Al- Raei, from Al- Arroub Refugee Camp- Hebron, on Saturday 9/9/2023. The child was knocked down dead with a bullet in his back.
SHAMS Center affirms that shooting the child in the back indicates the intentionally murdering crimes committed by the Israeli occupation’s army against the Palestinian children. Child Milad was not in confrontation with the soldiers but tried to move away and leave the place. However, the soldiers insisted on shooting him dead, in a clear manifestation of the Israeli policy to target Palestinian children and execute them for no reason.
SHAMS Center stresses that murdering the child Al- Raei is a profound violation of International Law and the International Human Rights Law, as well as the United Nations Convention on Child Rights. It is a war crime, according to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and violates the Geneva Conventions and their annexed protocols, which affirm children’s right to protection and urge for measures to ensure that children are excluded from the military conflicts and ensure that they are not being targeted within the local or international armed conflicts.
SHAMS Center calls upon all local and international legal organizations to initiate immediately in fulfilling their legal and moral responsibilities to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation and ensure that the criminals are presented to the appropriate judiciary channels. There is a need to ensure that the criminals are deterred and that they are not enjoying impunity to ensure the end of the crimes against Palestinian children.
SHAMS Center calls upon the international organizations involved in the childhood sector, to arrange field visits to Palestine to observe the status of human rights and see on their own the horrible intentional violations of human rights committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian children.
