Ramallah: the Human Rights and Democracy Media Center “SHAMS” welcomed in its Ramallah headquarters the British political consul Ms. Georgina Woodhouse-Hill. In the midst of the meeting, the center’s executive director Amal Faqih expressed her delight in Ms. Woodhouse-Hill’s visit to the center, and presented her with a detailed introduction about the center’s inception, history, programs, accomplishments, and projects. The meeting also covered relevant important topics like the elections, and the importance of the youth’s participation from both genders in the electoral process as it is a fundamental cornerstone in public policy-making in free and democratic societies.

Faqih proceeded to brief the political consul on the center’s different work programs and activities along with its experience in working with the youth. The discussion also included the decreasing engagement of the youth in public affairs and the impediments that bar them from participating effectively, after which the discussion moved to the center’s efforts in promoting citizens’ participation in all the phases of the electoral process and ensuring the elections’ success. At the end of the visit, the two sides discussed the possible means through which joint cooperation between them can take place.
