“SHAMS” Center followed with great concern the organized and continuous attack for several days and the hate speech that incites the killing of our colleague Dr. Omar Rahal, the solid national human rights defender that we cherish. Through suspicious pages linked to some obscurantist parties, the tool of colonialism and its creation, against the background of Rahal’s participation in one of the TV talk shows (MAA”N) and his expression of his opinion on male culture, and their distorted use of religion, tribal privileges and populist discourses in justifying the oppression and enslavement of women and justifying the practice of pedophilia against minors, And incitement against civil society institutions and international agreements, foremost of which is the “CEDAW” agreement, and on official and civil institutions and their workers.
As “SHAMS” Center expresses its absolute solidarity with our colleague Rahhal and its full support for the civil and official efforts to protect the family from violence at all levels of which it is proud to be a part of it, it strongly condemns these very serious threats to the life of the colleague Rahhal, his physical integrity, and his safeguarded and proven right in the expression of opinion and freedom of belief and speech, which comes within the systematic and organized terrorist campaigns through which the forces of backwardness seek to transfer their backwardness into the public sphere and intimidate and terrorize human rights defenders.
They are forces whose history is full of black criminality, loud and empty minded, that does not respect the inalienable right of man to life that God granted him before the legal laws. They are used cowardly to confront thought, word with sword, bullets, and bloodshed, recalling in this regard the martyrs: the Egyptian Faraj Fouda, the Tunisian Shukri Belaid, the Jordanian Nahed Hattar, and other guerrillas of humanity and its offerings, the torches of the path of enlightenment and liberation, and the pioneers of the Arab human rights and civil movement.
As “SHAMS” Center discovers from what happened, that these cowards are short-minded and deficient, who took the words out of their context in the exhibition of the colleague Rahhal’s talk about the short and superficial religious understanding that they are distinguished by in justifying their crimes against women and others, on which this organized campaign represents a clear realistic and practical example and they turned it into an assault on the Divine Essence and the sanctities, and they blaspheme aftermath colleague Rahhal, accusing him of apostasy and demanding to kill him. They do not have the honor of rivalry, so how did they reach the “light” stage by possessing the tools of dialogue and the features of a civilization far away from them? Rahal confirms to the forces of darkness, the bats of darkness, and the tools of colonialism who are accustomed to treachery and move in the shadows that he is able to defend and protect his staff by using all tools and means, and to deal firmly with the forces of backwardness and their criminal threats that have reached the point of threatening death and calling for the silence of our colleague Rahhal by force, and that he will take everything necessary in this regard.
Although “SHAMS” Center diagnosed what is happening as another expression of the fragility of the Palestinian political system, its weakness, and its suspicious silence in front of the forces of backwardness and their successive threats to commit the described crimes without taking any serious step; However, the “SHAMS” Center considers this statement as a public statement submitted to the Attorney General, and calls on the official and security authorities to act urgently and without delay to provide the necessary protection for our colleague Rahhal against this incitement and serious threat that poses a threat to his life, safety and family.
“SHAMS” Center also calls for the Cyber Crime Unit and Prosecution, who usually rush to take urgent steps when there is a political dimension that does not agree with the official visions, to act immediately and with the same effectiveness, without double standards, against these suspicious pages and those behind them, and to follow up on all who practice hate speech and blasphemy, incitement and threats via digital platforms that are capable of transforming into violent behavior in reality and with high probability and taking the legal requirement against them in a way that protects society, its civil symbols and its intellectuals. As these blowing horns were not satisfied with only threating the colleague Rahhal, but rather they threatened his respectable family and insulted their dignity and honor with filthy and inferior terms that reflect the lack of education, culture and their demagogy background who are still rising in the ages of decadence. It calls on all civil society organizations to reject differences and unite in confronting these reactionary blocs.
Let the dark and reactionary backward forces know that we are in the center of “SHAMS” will not surrender to its terrorist and intimidating attempts and its blind malevolent threats. We will continue the work and struggle that we started (17) years ago in defense of human rights, freedoms and dignity, without allowing its trumpets to distort us from our goals and our compass, which is summarized by the vision of the “SHAMS” Center in reaching a civil, democratic, pluralistic Palestinian state for all its citizens regardless of their different cultural, intellectual and religious identities. A state that protects human rights and is ruled by law and where the values of citizenship are elevated and its members live in an atmosphere of freedoms. This is our dream, this is our vision, this is our battle, and this is our path that we have chosen and in which we go.
